The good people over at Savor Filipino hit me up to be a chef at their Foodie Experience last August out in San Francisco.
For those that don’t know, this is something that The Filipino Food Movement throws every year to showcase Filipino cuisine in all its glory [licking lips…(please forgive my stomach grumbles)]. I travel a lot and don’t get my grub on too much so if there’s good food involved and good vibes all around – I’m in. Plus, people need to get familiar with how Chef Apl gets down in the kitchen.
This past August, I gave them a little taste of how I do Chicken Adobo. Ok, for real, I stole this recipe from my moms but y’all know what I mean. Anyway this was a dope event featuring chefs specializing in Filipino cuisine from all over the world – Miguel Trinidad (Maharlika & Jeepney NYC), Neil Syham (Lumpia Shack Brooklyn), Francis Ang (Dirty Habit SF), Justin Legaspi (Lahi Seattle) just to name a few. It was definitely an honor being one of the names among the others and I had lots of fun showing off my skills. Hopefully they extend another invite for the next one, cuz I got plenty more ammo in my recipe arsenal.
